Perodua promises a new 'bestseller'

BESUT: Perodua is scheduled to introduce a new model that it teasingly said would exceed the popularity of the MyVi, Alza and ViVa models.

It will feature the latest stylish and sporty designs and is expected to be launched in July or September, said Perodua managing director Datuk Aminar Rashid Salleh.

"For the new car, we also took into account the comments of customers towards previous models,"  he said.

"That is why, every time Perodua introduces a new model, it will surely be better that those previously, from the aspect of design, engine and fuel savings."

He declined, however, to reveal further details of the new model, or if it was a compact sedan with a 1.5-litre engine capacity when asked.

"It is an affordable compact car, suitable for all sections of the community, especially the young," he said today.

Media reports last year have also indicated that Perodua is due to introduce a new generation of the Myvi this year that is likely to include a more powerful 1.5-litre engine. The Myvi arrived on the scene in 2005.
