6,209 hybrids sold in first half, says MAA

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 6,209 hybrid vehicles were sold in the first half of this year instead of 5,522 units reported last week by the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA).

The MAA said there were errors in the sales figures of hybrid vehicles sold for 2011 and 2012 released during a press conference in Petaling Jaya on July 19 owing to the omission of one of Honda's hybrid model.

This means that for the first half of 2012, 6,209 hybrid cars were sold, with Honda being the top seller with 3,325 units, followed by Toyota (2,315), Lexus (563) and Porsche (six).

Last year, 8,403 hybrid cars were sold against 332 in 2010, MAA said in a automotive industry market review for the first half.
