Malaysia aims for 10% EVs by 2020

PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia hopes to achieve between 10% and 15% electric vehicles (EV) penetration in the market by 2020, said Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water Datuk Seri Peter Chin.

He said the Government was paving the way by starting the Fleet Test Vehicles programme with Proton to determine the requirements for developing and testing EV technology, as well as what it takes to lay the infrastructure and promoting EVs.

Chin said 120 EVs will be on the road in Putrajaya and Cyberjaya by year-end.
